Halloween is no longer just a one day affair. I dig the boxes out of my basement storage room and start putting them up around my house and yard at the beginning of October. That way I can enjoy them for the entire month.

The same goes for the way I dress for October as I have acquired quite an assortment of t-shirts, socks and even an apron with Halloween colours and designs. I’ll show you a way to make some scary jewellery to go with them?

I planned a visit to my local dollar store where I knew I’d find everything I needed for my Halloween jewels. One of the best investments I made on a recent trip was for a package containing 100 small plastic ants. I got itchy with excitement thinking of all the places I could place some of these critters. But first I had to use a few to fashion a striking piece of jewellery for myself.

Besides the black ants, the dollar store also sold glow in the dark ants and spiders.

If you don’t have a piece of jewellery lying around that you don’t need anymore, then pick something up at the dollar store or look for a bargain at the Goodwill or Value Village stores.

Supplies:

  • Plastic Halloween ants or spiders
  • Cool heat glue gun
  • Old pieces of jewellery

Directions:

  1. Turn on the glue gun
  2. Put small dabs of glue on the jewellery and put a bug or spider on the glue
  3. Continue gluing on bugs.

On the night of Halloween, wearing a few glow-sticks necklaces or bracelets is a good idea for visibility. If you have any glow sticks left over, here’s a handy way to put them to good use. Stuff an activated glow-stick into a latex glove and blow air into it from the opening. Seal it off so air does not escape.

Place these glowing hands all over your yard, peeking out of trees and flower pots to spook out the ghosts and goblins that dare come to your door asking for candy.
Have you ever wondered what makes light or glow-sticks work when activated?
