Vancouver
The Vancouver Art Gallery is hosting an exhibition entitled "KRAZY! The Delirious World of Anime + Comics _ Video Games + Art". This is an all encompassing art exhibition that attempts to connect the worlds of comic books, graphic novels, cartoons, Japanese animation and Video games. The art exhibition covers nearly a century of these unique art forms and has been co-curated by Bruce Grenville, Tim Johnson, Kiyoshi Kusumi and Art Spiegelman. (May 17-September 7, 2008)
Ottawa
The National Gallery of Canada has two shows that focus on humor in art. From Today Painting Is Dead: Humor and the Invention of Photography (March 28-July 13, 2008) features 30 images that comment on the invention of photography in a humorous way. This art exhibition features the works of Félicien Rops, Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen and Honoré Daumier. While at the National Gallery of Canada make time for Comic Relief an art exhibition of contemporary art that focuses on humor and satire. (April 19-September 21, 2008)
Toronto
OK, not really an art exhibition but at the Royal Ontario Museum you can check out a family friendly exhibition about the great scientist Charles Darwin entitled Darwin: The Evolution Revolution. This show about Charles Darwin focuses on the life of the man himself and takes museum goers through his early childhood years to his ground breaking research on Galapagos Islands on the HMS Beagle. The interactive exhibits in this show are great for adults or children. (Currently showing and up until August 4, 2008)
Quebec
The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is showing the first retrospective exhibition of famous French fashion designer Yves St. Laurent. Spanning a career that lasted for 40 years, this art exhibition features drawings, photographs and fashions by the late Yves St. Laurent. (May 29-September 28, 2008)
Victoria
You can take the whole family to see Warhol: Larger Than Life at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Colorful, fun and thought provoking, Andy Warhol is considered to be on the of the most influential American artists of the 20th century. (May 30-August 24, 2008)
