There are many contemporary celebrities who have agreed to put their names on the labels of a line of clothing. Some celebrity fashion designers may not have anything to do with the line of clothes, but their celebrity brand name is enough to add credibility and perceived value to the clothing. The celebrity designers listed below seem to have a personal investment in their brand name line of clothing and follow through with products that reflect their intentions.
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez started Sweetface Fashion Company in 2001 and is co-run by Andy Hilfiger (Tommy Hilfiger’s brother) and the creative director is Jennifer herself. Sweetface includes the juniors’ line of clothing J.Lo, as well as fragrances, watches and shoes. Lopez’s Sweetface collection includes higher-end clothing that takes more fashion risks.
Jessica Simpson
Jessica Simpson sells perfume, shoes, boots and handbags. The Simpson perfume collection includes Dessert and Fancy. Jessica uses her signature as her logo and says, “I am every girl, I want my clothing to be accessible and fun. I want women and girls to feel comfortable and confident wearing my products.”
Beyoncé
Beyoncé and her mother Tina Knowles started the high-end House of Dereon in 2004. As part of the House of Dereon brand, Beyoncé and her sister, Solange, started a more reasonably priced line of clothing called Dereon. The name for Beyoncé’s clothing line came from her grandmother, Agnez Dereon, who was a dress-maker and seamstress.
Olsen Twins
The Olsen Twins, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, also have a double line of clothing to suit both high-end and more affordable fashion tastes. The Olsens sell their affordable fashions through Wal-Mart and also have two high-end fashion businesses called The Row and Elizabeth and James.
Hilary Duff
Disney channel star Hilary Duff has a line of clothing and accessories available at mainstream stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, Sears, JC Penney and Limited Too. I have a lovely and fashionable pair of glasses that I purchased from Wal-Mart that bear the Hilary Duff label.
Gwen Stefani
This working mom and lead singer of No Doubt has a label called L.A.M.B. which stands for Love Angel Music Baby. L.A.M.B. includes fashion and fragrance from this famous style icon.
Justin Timberlake
Former Back Street Boy Justin Timberlake started his own clothing line William Rast in 2005. While there are three William Rast stores in California you can also order from this pricey clothing line online.
Sean Combs aka P. Diddy aka Puff Daddy
P. Diddy, the rapper who likes to change his name ever-so-slightly every now and then, has a line of clothing called Sean John. From Diddy’s site: “Mr. Combs created the line to fill a void in the market for well-made, sophisticated fashion-forward clothing that also reflected an urban sensibility and style.”
