Are you a big Scrubs fan? You know, the quirky, comedy tv show on ABC about to debut it’s ninth series on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. (9:00-9:30pm EST)

The Success of Scrubs

Scrubs has a small but loyal following who hang in there season after season, due in part to the witty dialogue and slapstick humor. Actors on Scrubs memorize the script but are also given leeway to improvise dialogue.

A Quality Acting Team

The actors on Scrubs also deserve much of the credit for the quality humor delivered consistently on the show. Zach Braff is the main character Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian. Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley and Judy Reyes round out the rest of this high-quality, comedic, acting team.

Great Music

The closing bit of Scrubs is usually a fun music video or montage that sums up the theme of the show. The cast of Scrubs sings and they are also allowed to suggest songs for the show. The music from Scrubs is so hot that there are three soundtrack CDs you can buy that feature the music from the television show. Artists featured on the Scrubs soundtrack include Eels, Francis Dunnery, The Shins, Colin Hay, Guided by Voices, John Cale, Citizen Cope, Rhett Miller and Martin Sexton.

All New Scrubs

In the new, improved version of Scrubs that is debuting early next month, there will be lots of new faces including Eliza Coupe, Kerry Bishe, Michael Mosley and Dave Franco. Zach Braff is scheduled to be in the first several episode but will be gradually phased out for the focus of Scrubs to go to Kerry Bishe’s character, a innocent medical student named Lucy.

Why the Scrubs Changes?

Scrubs is one of those television shows that is always in danger of being cancelled. The ratings for the 8th series of Scrubs were at an all-time low and if the series is not continue something had to change. Perhaps it needs to shake up the characters but in some ways it seems like the series is grasping at straws, desperate to give wider-appeal to a lower-appeal show. Eliminating Braff from the cast for some of the episodes probably saves ABC some cash as well.

Scrubs is TV Worth Watching

So don’t forget to watch the season premiere of Scrubs. And whatever you do, don’t change the channel at 9:30pm. ABC is airing a second episode of Scrubs after the first, so December 1 is a lucky twofer for Scrubs fans!
