Don’t let the winter blues get you down. There are lots of new movie possibilities to entertain and keep us warm during the cold months. So what are the new movies coming out this winter that look like they might be good?

The Book of Eli (R)

In this action adventure film, a lone hero travels the country in post-apocalyptic times to save a book that might be able to save humanity. Starring Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson and Jennifer Beals.

The Last Station 

The Last Station chronicles the last years of Russian writer Leo Tolstoy and stars Sir Anthony Hopkins. This dramatic film also stars Paul Giamatti, James McAvoy, Christopher Plummer and Meryl Streep.

Extraordinary Measures (PG)

This drama is about a businessman who leaves a successful career to start a new biotech company in the hopes of finding a cure for his kid’s fatal illnesses. Starring Brendan Fraser, Harrison Ford, Keri Russell and Jared Harris.

Saint John of Las Vegas (R)

This comedic drama stars Steve Buscemi as a recovering gambling addict who has to return to Las Vegas on business without getting sucked back into his addiction. Saint John also stars Romany Malco, Emily Mortimer, Tim Blake Nelson and John Cho.

When in Rome (PG-13)

This romantic comedy stars Kristin Bell as she is wooed by Danny DeVito, Will Arnett, Josh Duhamel and Jon Heder.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief 

This fun, action adventure movie is based on a best-selling series of kids books by Rick Riordan. This movie chronicles the life of Percy Jackson who finds out that he is part-god and must deal with the wrath of other gods such as Zeus and Poseidon. The Lightning Thief stars Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Pierce Brosnan and Uma Thurman, and is directed by Chris Columbus.  

The Wolfman (R)

It’s time for a new werewolf movie, don’t you think? Starring Sir Anthony Hopkins, Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt and Geraldine Chaplin, The Wolfman is directed by Joe Johnston.

Valentine’s Day (PG-13)

Just in time for February 14 is this light, romantic comedy starring Ashton Kutcher, Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel. Valentine’s Day is directed by Gary Marshall.

Shutter Island 

Excellent plot line, amazing director, and a dream cast. Shutter Island is going to be great! Two U.S. Marshalls investigate the mysterious disappearance of a female murderer from a jail for the criminally insane. Directed by Martin Scorsese, this suspenseful thriller stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams and Max von Sydow. 

Alice in Wonderland 

This 3-D movie version of the Lewis Carroll classic stars Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Crispin Glover, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter.

Green Zone (R)

The Green Zone is a war drama that takes place during the Iraqui War and stars Matt Damon, Amy Ryan, Greg Kinnear, Antoni Corone and Brendan Gleson.

Hot Tub Time Machine

Hot Tub Time Machine is about a group of best friends who are bored by their lives and find a magic hot tub that allows them to change the past and thus the future. This comedy stars John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke and Chevy Chase.

The Bounty Hunter

This comedy stars queen of comedy Jennifer Aniston, a petty criminal who has jumped bail and is pursued by her ex-husband. The Bounty Hunter also stars Gerard Butler, Jason Sudeikis, Dorian Missick and Christine Baranski.
