When most people go to the electronics store to buy a new Blu-Ray DVD player they usually go for aisle with the DVD players, right?  It makes sense.  But there is another alternative that most consumers should consider.  One that is not only cost effective but also a multiple use device.  To put it simply, your next Blu-Ray DVD player should come from the video game aisle in the form of the new Playstation 3 Slim (PS3).

The PS3 has been on the market for around three years now, and is one of the most popular video game systems on the market.  The thing that sets it apart from other game systems is that from the beginning Sony has used a Blu-Ray drive in it, which allows the PS3 to not only play some of the most popular video games on the planet, but also allows it to play any Blu-Ray movie that you can buy as well.  In short, a person can buy a PS3 for less than $300 and get a device that not only plays games but also plays Blu-Ray movies all for the cost of a higher end stand alone Blu-Ray player.

The PS3 goes beyond just a movie and gaming device though.  The system also has a built in web browser and free access to an online gaming network should you choose to play games on it.  It also has full 1080p HDMI output, giving you the clearest possible picture when hooked up to a 1080p capable HDTV set.  All of this gets rolled into a slim little box that is smaller than most traditional DVD players.  If you are in the market for a new Blu-Ray player or are trying to find a great gift for someone with kids or who has a little bit of a gaming streak in them, consider the Sony PS3.
