YouTube is the granddaddy of all online video sharing web sites, with hundreds of thousands of views every single day.  But YouTube is not appropriate for everyone, especially those with more personal or private family videos to share.  For sharing videos that are not intended to be visible to everyone on the planet a new service called Motionbox gives back some security and modesty to its users along with a very competitive price tag and feature rich interface.

Motionbox.com Solves Several Common Online Video Problems
One major problem that arises when working with video is the issue of file size.  Motionbox has removed that problem altogether for those interesting in investing $29.99 for a year of membership.  Premium members to the Motionbox service can upload and download unlimited amounts of data and share it with unlimited numbers of friends, family, and colleagues.  Moreover, when using the Motionbox Premium service, downloads are left uncompressed, allowing users to open the files on their local computers in full, high resolution detail.  These files can then be manipulated with traditional editing software, burned to a CD or DVD, or used in any other common video related application.

Unlimited Storage With Many Different File Formats
The service also supports a multitude of video formats including the 3G cell phone formats, raw DV, and even HDTV formats.  While users will have to have very fast upload speeds on their broadband connections to make this worthwhile, Chris O'Brien, co-founder of Motionbox believes that the service provides a great opportunity for users to backup and archive video footage while still providing the ability to easily share it among others.  Other important benefits to the Motionbox service include their unique mixing application in which users are able to mix pieces of different videos together to combine them into a unique presentation.  This flash based video editing program is barebones, but still useful and fun to try.  Members can even allow other non-members to mix their own versions of the member's uploaded materials.  This feature opens the door to many unique possibilities for education and other related fields.
