For those that truly want to immerse themselves in the games they play the quality of the sound they hear can be just as important as the video they watch. Computer audio technology has come a long way from tinny sounding speakers and uncomfortable headphones. The new SteelSeries Siberia version 2 gaming headset is another evolution in a line of high quality gaming headsets that marry style and function with great sound and recording capabilities.
The SteelSeries Siberia v2 ships in two colors, white and black. The white version is the standard one, but a special black version will also be available beginning in November 2009 with a bundled USB sound card. Both versions feature leather bound ear cups for improved noise isolation as well as greater comfort. Unlike most traditional headphones the Siberia v2 also features a belt like suspension system that keeps the hard plastic headband from touching the wearer.
As for performance, the SteelSeries Siberia v2 has some of the largest driver units on the market. These 50mm sound drivers are tuned to provide excellent 3D reproduction of video game sounds, allowing the player to get totally immersed in the gaming environment. Integrated volume control built into the nine foot long headphone cable means no more fumbling on screen to find the volume controls when something gets too loud or falls to soft to hear. One of the more innovative part of the headset though is the retractable microphone that pushes back into the left earpiece when not in use but still readily available whenever using Ventrillo, online chat programs, or audio recording software.
While there are hundreds of different sets of headphones on the market today, the SteelSeries Siberia v2 is definately at the high end of the market. Available in November at a number of different online retailers such as Amazon, the Siberia v2 is a prime candidate for any gamers Christmas shopping list.
