Some very commonly given gifts probably shouldn't be very common anymore. Here are a few gifts to avoid and some other ideas that will make an even better present. Beauty maven or not, be kind and avoid giving these gifts.
-
Perfume. Not only is this a very personal gift, it can go horribly wrong. Leave perfume picking to the person wearing it. It would be better to give them a gift card to a place that carries perfume and maybe some samples.
-
Purses. It is hard to know the needs of the person that will possibly use the purse. Instead, go with a cute multi use tote bag or even a fashionable assortment of those reusable cloth shopping bags.
-
Clothes. This is really a biggy. I am often surprised that people are willing to take the risk. Getting the wrong size can be a deadly mistake! It is so easy to offend someone if the clothing is too big or too small. If you are tempted to do this and you are not into giving a gift card then give them jewelry or outerwear like a scarf, hat, mittens (always a great gift!) or even a cozy pair of socks.
-
The bath set. This is probably the most over given gift ever! The rule of thumb here is give a really nice one like from Bath and Body Works or The Healing Gardens otherwise this gift is at a huge risk of being regifted!

Regifts. I know this is common. Even I am guilty of this. The exception is that if you already have one of the gift you are regifting (ex. Someone gave you a blender and you have a blender.) then regifting is fine. If you are regifting to get rid of a bad present you didn't really like then you are bad! Ok, maybe not but maybe consider donating it or just throwing it away. It isn't really a nice thing to unload a bad gift on an unsuspecting friend or even an acquaintance.
