Is that a cute dimple on my butt cheek? Aw, how sweet. Stop! No, it’s not a dimple, and it’s far from sweet or cute! A dimple in your cheek as you smile is sweet, not on your…well, anywhere else on your body. Why? Because sweetie, it’s not a dimple, it’s…are you ready? It’s cellulite. Ugh. Cellulite is caused by the uneven rate of absorption by fat cells. The result of the fatty tissues is an uneven appearance in the skin.
It’s time to admit it; those dimples aren’t so cute anymore. And now that you know (I’m sorry I had to break it to you this way), you’ll be standing at the department store or pharmacy trying to find the miracle cure that comes in a container.
Are you ready for even more bad news? I hate to do this to you, but those “miracles” don’t completely treat and cure cellulite. They can help reduce the “appearance” of cellulite, but the real damage is underneath the skin in the damaged fat.
According to muredspa.com, “Creams cannot actually penetrate the dermis where much of the damage is. Creams and lotions generally reach only the epidermis, or top layer of skin. Many cellulite treatments are largely unsuccessful because they target only the external appearance of cellulite.”
But here’s some hope. In an on-line article on medicalnewstoday.com, “Scientists at Massachusetts General Hospital, are using the Free-Electron Laser…to heat up fat, which is then excreted by the body - without harming the skin. They say this technique could be used for treating cellulite, acne and heart disease.”
You can try the creams, as indicated above, because they will treat the actual appearance of cellulite, but don’t expect to be entirely cured. There are hundreds of these products out on the market, and one that works for someone else may not work for you. Experiment and find the product that helps you. The best way to treat cellulite (or better yet, prevent it) is to incorporate healthy choices in your diet and to exercise. Try looking for herbal or all-natural remedies that can fight cellulite from the inside. If none of these options sound appealing to you, you may want to talk to your physician about other solutions, such as liposuction or other types of plastic surgery.
If only treating cellulite were as simple as a jug of miracle cream…
