Anyone with great skin will tell you that it important to wash your face morning and night. It is also important to moisturize, treat troubled areas, and at the same time be gentle to the skin.

Think cleanse, exfoliate, treat, moisturize and protect.

  • With cleansing it is very important to do it right. A good cleanser will not strip the skin but will remove all traces of dirt and make up. It is also a good idea to get a good eye make up remover as well. A good brand is Cetaphil. It is gentle and very effective.

  • Exfoliation can be done several ways. Which one you choose will depend on your skin type and sensitivity. Scrubs are effective and can be found in gentle formulas. Alpha-hydroxy is also a great way to exfoliate the skin. Which ever one you choose, just makes sure it is gentle enough to use every day. It also is a good idea to use a gentler one in the morning.

  • Treat is where your skin care plan is individualized. Do you have acne prone skin? Get something with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in it. Do you want to prevent wrinkles? Try a retinol cream, antioxidant cream or a collagen booster. Do you have dry skin? Try a deep moisturizer for your driest areas. This step would also include any prescription treatments.

  • Everyone needs a moisturizer whether you have dry skin or very oily skin. Just make sure that you find on that it right for your skin type and if it is not keeping your face soft then it time to find a new one. I heavier moisturizer at night can be helpful for some.

  • Protection is generally sunscreen. Everyone needs a good sunscreen for the face. It prevents wrinkles, sun spots on top of the more serious skin cancer.
