In my previous article, we talked about how to navigate deli sandwich menus and order healthfully, but you may be left wondering, what’s the bottom line?  Or, what specific sandwiches should I steer clear from and what sandwiches earn a green light?  Check out the following 5 best and worst deli sandwich items and navigate that menu with ease and confidence!

Danger Zone – 5 Worst Deli Sandwiches

Based on a “regular” sandwich or about 6-8 inches.

• Rueben: 750 calories and 40 g fat
• Chicken Salad: 750 calories and 43 g fat
• Veggie Sandwich (comes with cheese, mayo and guacamole): 790 calories and 39 g fat!
• Italian Sub: 834 calories and 47 g fat
• Tuna Salad: 956 calories and 55 g fat


Home Base – 5 Best Deli Menu Items

Based on a “small’ sandwich or about 6 inches. 

• Turkey breast on wheat (no mayo or cheese): 345 calories and 5 g fat
• Grilled Chicken Breast (no mayo or cheese): 372 calories, 5 g fat
• Ham and Swiss on sliced wheat (no mayo): 374 calories and 15 g fat
