Autumn has so much to offer – fall flowers in beautiful colors, pumpkins, gourds, leaves and Indian corn.
A perfect autumn centerpiece can be as simple as arranged pumpkins and gourds in varying sizes stretching from one end of the table to the next, with pressed colorful leaves sprinkled throughout. Turn your household candles into pieces of an autumn centerpiece by tying raffia bows around the candles and setting on a bed of colorful leaves.

Autumn Cornucopia
A cornucopia, sometimes known as a horn-of-plenty, is the symbol of the fall season and all it has to offer. Making your own cornucopia can be as simple as filling a horn-shaped basket with fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Empty cornucopias can be found at craft supply stores and with baskets in home goods departments. They range from simple cone-shaped baskets to cornucopias designed to hold a more arranged grouping.
Start filling your cornucopia by stuffing the end with newspaper and then placing mini pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, apples, pears, grapes, fall flowers and leaves. All items for a cornucopia can be either fresh or artificial. Start with larger items and then fill in gaps with smaller pieces. Let the cornucopia fillers spill out onto the table surrounding the basket for a more natural centerpiece design.
Pumpkin Planter
Pumpkins and gourds can be used as planters and vase holders for fall flowers for a beautiful centerpiece. Simply cut a hole in the top of a pumpkin and scoop out the insides. Remove the tops of gourds and cut out the insides. Smaller pumpkins and gourds can be filled with small flower stems, and larger pumpkins can hold pots of daisies or chrysanthemums.
White Pumpkin Candle Holders
Those miniature white pumpkins that crop up every fall can be used in a centerpiece that brings together the autumn season and a touch of elegance. On a white tablecloth, with white dishes and an all-white table theme, set a miniature white pumpkin candleholder and white taper candle at each place setting.
To turn a miniature white pumpkin into a taper candleholder, carefully cut a hole in the top roughly the size of the diameter of a taper candle. Use a sharp knife and work slowly and carefully. Start with a smaller hole and carve outward gradually until the taper candle fits snugly into the hole.
Indian Corn Vase
Indian corn, with its colorful kernels and dried-leaf tops, are a natural symbol of autumn. Using real or artificial Indian corn stalks, you can turn a plain glass vase into a striking autumn centerpiece.
Use a vertical glass jar or vase that is about the height of the Indian corn you’re using. With a hot glue gun, run a line of hot glue lengthwise down the side of a piece of Indian corn. Press it onto the vase or jar and hold firmly for a few seconds. The corn should be placed on the jar so that the leaves are on top. Continue to glue Indian corn cobs onto the jar until it is covered.
Trim the leafy tops with scissors so they are even. Tie the sides with a raffia bow. Fill the vase with cattails and long-stemmed fall flowers and wheat stalks.
