This just in: our favorite train-wreck is out of the courts (temporarily, that is) and back in the recording studio! After her “second comeback” –the release of her new single, “Womanizer”—was delayed a few weeks ago, there are rumblings afoot in the rabid Britney Spears fan base.
Rumor has it that Britney’s music label wanted to tweak with the song after it leaked on the internet. Fans had high expectations for the single, and were a bit indignant (and rightfully so!) when “Womanizer” didn’t live up to their usual high standards.
Let’s be realistic here, we all know what happens when Britney announces a comeback. More often than not, it involves one or more of the following: stripper poles, bad lip-synching and even worse costumes, live snakes, and make-out sessions with Madonna.
But never fear, Brit-Brit loyalists, here’s something to look forward to—director Joseph Khan, the mastermind behind the “Toxic” video, reunites with Spears in “Womanizer”. This means, surprise(!), her vampy outfits, or lack thereof, have not changed one bit. “Womanizer” depicts Spears in a delightfully trashy waitress get-up, which includes tight leather pants, bright red lipstick, and fake tattoos. It’s an upgrade from her sexy schoolgirl costume, perhaps?
The list of synonyms for describing Britney’s trashiness could go on for eternity, but good lord, MUST her songs be so catchy? “Womanizer” is certainly no exception. I hate to say this, but Britney fans should get excited. As if they aren’t excited enough already.
And even more good news is in the works— Britney’s got a documentary! In a throw-back to Princess Diana’s 1995 exclusive interview with BBC’s Martin Bashir, the Princess of Pop reveals all. Keep your eyes tuned to MTV on November 30th to hear such introspective gems as “I’m a smart person, what the hell was I thinking?” (regarding Spears’ tumultuous past few years) and footage of her backwater Louisiana home.
It seems that Britney’s comeback entails her looking more sober than ever before! She’s got her body back, she won three times at the MTV Video Music Awards, and is set to release her newest album in December. Oh, Britney, how we’ve missed you.
