Even if you haven’t been able to give up your car for driving in the city or on the highway, you can still cruise the information superhighway to do your part to end global warming! The Internet, now common enough in many homes, can prove to be an excellent educational resource for those wanting to learn about climate change. In my work as the “green guide”, I have gathered a number of helpful websites which I am pleased to share with you. Here, in no specific order, are my top recommendations:

Live Science:  www.livescience.com/environment/

An easily-navigated website which offers a wealth of information for site surfers. Read up on the “featured stories”, check out the “most e-mailed” stories or weigh in on the “hot debates”. Do make a point of viewing this site’s “Image Gallery” for some breathtaking photos!

Meet the Greens: www.meetthegreens.org/

No, we’re not talking about the new next door neighbours. The Greens are a website family who teach your children about environmental issues. Through fun and interactive games, youngsters will enjoy learning about how to reduce their own carbon footprints.

National Geographic: environment.nationalgeographic.com/environment/

Much like the original magazine, this publication’s environmental link on-line does not disappoint. Of course, website visitors will be treated to some incredible photography – the same quality of pictures which made the magazine so respected; however, there is much more to be found here as well. The in-depth articles are both exceptionally researched and written and are a treat to read.

Alternative Energy News: www.alternative-energy-news.info/

What do you want to learn more about? Batteries? Electric Cars? Solar Power? It’s all here and more. Although the site is a little “busy” on the home page (there is a lot of information there …), don’t be discouraged. Spend some time here and you will not be disappointed.
