Not much of a theme this week, but it is a "ramble," after all.

Hey, remember the Battle of Agincourt, "We brave few," "band of brothers," and all that? Well, it wasn't as an impressive victory as legend would have it, says researchers.

Oh, and those pilots who overshot their destination by 150 miles last week, the latest version has it that they were preoccupied with their laptop computers.

And remember those "Baby Einstein" videos you bought for your kid, who's still dumber than a state senator? Well, you can now get a refund. Rumor has it that the new product will come with the following disclaimer: The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree.

A group called the The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR), doesn't believe Amelia Earhart's plane hit an iceberg and sank, rather they think she and Noonan landed on an island and died there sometime later. Not being an expert on the subject, I don't know what to think about TIGHAR's evidence, but it certainly sparks the imagination.

Al Franken is as smart as he is funny, the guy really does his homework. See the video proof here.

The "Ig Nobel Prizes" were handed out earlier in the month. "Winners of the Ig Nobel for physics was a no-brainer. The heavily favoured American team of Katherine K. Whitcome, Daniel E. Lieberman and Liza J. Shapiro nabbed the prize for analytically determining why pregnant women don't tip over. Read all about it: Fetal Load and the Evolution of Lumbar Lordosis in Bipedal Hominins. It's in Vol. 450 of Nature."

100,000 Italian women declare that they don't care much for Silvio Berlusconi. What took them so long?

How Green Is Tofu? Meh, not as green as you may think.

Ice-skating bear kills Russian circus director. Apparently, ice skating bears are a standard feature of Russian circuses.

And finally, some wisdom from Kent Sepkowitz, an infectious disease specialist: "They fail to see public health for what it is: a serious of aimless unfortunate circumstances without reason or fault, without a grand design, a conspiracy, or a 10-year plan, but a complicated set of facts thrown before us at exactly the wrong time, to be dealt with cautiously, anxiously, and mostly in the dark, just like the rest of adult life." Amen, brother.
