Do people still get married in Vegas? Absolutely. About 100,000 couples take their marriage vows in Las Vegas, Nevada every year.  While you may have visions of being married by an Elvis impersonator in an all-white chapel, Vegas also offers up classy weddings at rock bottom prices.

Why Vegas?

Why NOT Vegas? And what are some of the advantages to getting married in Las Vegas, Nevada? While it’s cheaper to get married by the Justice of the Peace in a generic courthouse, it doesn’t cost much more to get hitched in a halfway classy spot in a party capital of the United States.

How much is a Vegas wedding?

First, the marriage license has to be purchased in City Hall for $55, most preachers charge about $60. (The Clark County Marriage License Bureau is at 201 Clark Avenue and can be reached at 702-761-0600. Impossibly, this place is open from 8am to midnight every single day of the year.) Chapel rental for a basic wedding will run you from $75-$200 and includes recorded music. For more expensive weddings, the sky is the limit, but you can throw yourself a decent, little Vegas wedding for no more than $500.  Considering the average cost for a wedding nowadays is about $15,000-$20,000, $500 is quite a bargain.

Special Vegas wedding features

Since the Las Vegas wedding is all about instant and glitzy gratification, you can have your wedding broadcast as a video conference so your relatives all over the world can attend even if only virtually. Your Vegas wedding photographer will snap your photographs for cheap and even give you a CD of the photos on your way out. You can even hire a videographer to shoot your wedding video and get your DVD on your way out. Now that is fast!

Famous Las Vegas Weddings

Celebrities have helped to make Las Vegas one of the wedding capitals of the United States and include:  Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow, Elvis and Priscilla Presley, Michael Jordan, Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Hurley, Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford, Pamela Anderson, Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton, Britney Spears and Jason Allen Alexander, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.
