Chi, also known as Qi, is the Chinese word for “energy flow”. In traditional Chinese medicine it is believed that our bodies have natural flows of energy that circulate in channels called meridians. If this flow of energy is obstructed or is brought out of balance in some way then it is said that illnesses, pain or fatigue can occur. Bringing your Chi into balance can benefit you physically, mentally and spiritually. In order to restore the balance of energy there are various methods in which to choose from, and here are some popular choices. Please note that at the end of this article there will be some recommended links for you to look through for further reading on these choices.
Chakra Balancing
The seven main chakras are energy centers that are openings to the flow of energy that are connected to both our physical and our psychic energies. If the energy of the chakras is disrupted it can leave a person feeling physically drained and spiritually disconnected. A true Chakra healer has extensive knowledge in the subtle energy of a person’s chakra areas. Self-help is also another option and this can be done through chakra meditations and the use of crystals and essential oils.
Reiki
Pronounced ray-kee, the word Reiki means Universal Life Energy in Japanese. It is a technique that promotes energy healing through the laying on of hands by a person who is trained in Reiki. It is a very simple, painless and natural method that can increase a person’s flow of energy leaving them feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
Qigong
A traditional Chinese exercise system that helps to restore and maintain the natural flow of energy through the body. It is a form of exercise that is an integration of physical postures, breathing technique and mental focus. There are a wide variety of qigong practices ranging from very simple to more challenging and complex.
Kabbalistic Healing
A healing approach that nurtures a person’s relationship to the source for all healing power, also known as God-cleaving. Healers access the knowledge of Jewish mystical tradition and the teachings of the Kabbalah to assist a person both physically and spiritually.
