Spiritua l meditation has long been used as a way for people of many different beliefs to connect with what is sacred. It can help you reach a higher level of awareness on your spiritual journey as well as assist you in staying connected with all that is sacred in life. Not only this, but it is well known that the daily practice of meditation can help promote better physical and emotional health. But in the busy world that we live in it is often hard to find the time to practice meditation. Many people who are new to meditation mistakenly believe that long stretches of time need to be dedicated to each meditative session, but this does not always have to be the case, in fact it’s more about the quality of the meditation rather than the quantity of time. Short or what are sometimes known as mini meditations when practiced each day can go a long way into enhancing your spiritual daily spiritual life.  Here are a few suggested ideas to get you on your way.

Core Breath Work

This is an excellent way to calm your mind before any type of spiritual work or whenever you feel overly stressed. Sit in a comfortable position and close your eyes. As you sit quietly, breathe in and out rhythmically through your nose. The purpose of this meditation is to focus entirely on your breathing and how each breath feels. Don’t force the breath at all, just be aware of the sensation of each gentle breath, in and out. Feel the sensation of your abdomen and chest rising and falling with each breath. As you do this, let your mind be clear of any intrusive thoughts. If you find any thoughts making their way into your mind just let them gently float away. Do this meditation for several minutes, then open your eyes and take several deep and cleansing breaths.

Quartz Crystal Energy Boost

Quartz crystals have long been known for their vibrant and cleansing energy. This quick and easy meditation is a good way to give your spiritual and physical self an energy boost whenever you need it most. Sit comfortably while holding a small, clear quartz crystal in your dominant hand (whichever hand you write with); let both of your hands rest in your lap and don’t clench the crystal tightly. With your eyes closed, breath gently in and out through your nose while focusing your mind on the quartz crystal. Visualize a white, energizing light glowing from the crystal and imagine this beautiful light flowing up your arm and throughout your body. With each breath feel the energy of the crystal flowing inside you, washing away all fatigue and stress. After several minutes open your eyes and take a deep cleansing breath. This meditation is also a good way to connect with your higher, spiritual self.

Gratitude Meditation

This is a good meditation to do at the end of the day as a way to connect with your spiritual self by taking stock of what you are grateful for in life. You can do this either seated or standing. This can be done before a private altar, a spiritual image, a lit candle, or anything that has particular spiritual significance to you. Focus your gaze gently on the spiritual item or items you have before you and let your mind and body relax. Then take a few moments to think about the things in your life that you are truly grateful for. It doesn’t have to be a long detailed list, just a few things will do. You can say them aloud, write them down or just quietly reflect on them. Then give thanks for these blessings in whichever way you choose to do so such as a prayer, an offering, or just a simple thank you to what you consider to be divine. Connecting with the blessings in life and giving thanks for these blessings is a good way to connect with your higher spiritual self and with all that is sacred in life.
