Your inner spirit is the core of essence of who you are and is also the part of you that is connected to life and Divinity. This vibrant part of you helps you to be a creative, expressive and joyful being. But daily difficulties and frustrations in life can leave it feeling depleted and hurt. The following is a spiritual exercise that incorporates meditation and visualization as a way to help your spirit feel revitalized and healed. It connects you with the energy of your own inner spirit and with all that is sacred.
First of all you need to set aside about 20 minutes of uninterrupted time. Find a quiet place and sit comfortably in a chair with your back supported and your feet on the floor. It's best to wear loose comfortable clothing for this meditation and you can remove your shoes if you wish.
Close your eyes and take a few minutes to slow down your mind and body. Breathing slowly and gently, feel yourself become more centered and calm. If distracting thoughts pop into your mind just let them lightly slip away, without judgment. Ground yourself by visualizing roots spreading from the bottoms of your feet and deep down into the earth; really feel this safe and comforting connection. Take a few deep, relaxing breaths in and out.
Breathing gently and slowly again, and with your eyes still closed, visualize yourself surrounded by a soft, white light. Feel the warm energy of the light around you and know that you are protected within this light. Take a few minutes to focus on this light and feel its strong energy around you.
Now, visualize a small flickering light within you, which is your inner spirit. Feel the warmth, wisdom and love that is within this light. Take a few deep breaths to settle more deeply into yourself and then continue to breathe slowly and gently again. Take some time to connect with your inner spirit and welcome it.
See this small, flickering light take on a golden and vibrant glow. Imagine it slowly expanding and flowing outward from your heart throughout your entire body. Feel this healing energy flow through you like a cleansing, healing balm.
Feel the strength of your connection to all that is sacred around you and within you. As you do this, continue to feel the golden, healing energy within you, and know that your spirit is growing stronger and more vibrant.
See any negativity or darkness within you being pushed out by this healing, golden light. Fully embrace this light; welcome its healing properties and accept them.
Know that you are safe and well.
Feel the healing and the revitalized energy.
Know that you will carry this healing, revitalized energy with you, throughout your daily tasks.
Take in a few deep breaths and begin to feel more in your body again. Open your eyes and take in your surroundings. Be sure not to stand up suddenly after this spiritual exercise. You may just want to take a few moments to bask in the glow of your energized spirit.
