As many of you may know, the hectic pace of life can at times feel overwhelming and draining. The stresses of balancing work and home life, along with all the worries of daily living can leave you feeling spiritually depleted and ungrounded. It is times like these when you really need to stay grounded and connected with your inner spirit. In this way you keep in touch with what you view as sacred while at the same time reducing your stress level. Aside from the obvious ways of staying spiritually grounded, such as prayer, meditation or working withcrystals, there are some quick and easy ways in which you can do this.
Spiritual Cue Cards
On individual index cards, write down short spiritual quotes that you find especially calming or inspiring. Keep them in your desk, in a convenient area of your home or even in your purse or briefcase. Whenever you feel the need to ground and refresh your spirit pull out a card and read the phrase. Take a few moments to focus on what the words mean to you while taking some deep and calming breaths.
The Power of Sound
Listen to music that is soothing to your spirit or play an audio book that you find particularly grounding and calming. Some good choices would be The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, How to Know God by Deepak Chopra or Start Where You Are by Pema Chodron.
Soothing Words
Recite a short, calming mantra or a few words that will bring you fully into the moment and connect you with your spirit. It can be part of a prayer, something you remember from a book or words spoken straight from the heart. Whatever they may be keep it brief, take a few deep breaths and connect with the soothing message within the words.
Be Like a Tree
This is a very simple and effective grounding method. Visualize yourself as a tree standing tall and strong. See your upper body as the branches and leaves of the tree reaching toward the sun and your lower body as the trunk and roots. Take a deep breath and let it out as you feel the energy within you traveling all the way down to your feet while visualizing roots traveling deep within the earth. Feel your sense of place and your connection what is sacred.
These grounding methods can be done at nearly any time during the day when you feel you need to check in with your spirit and connect with calming energy.
