Want to “bare” it all on a beach in a tropical paradise? Well you are not alone, there is a whole group of people who are naturalists at heart and spend their vacations at nude beaches and resorts. But where do you look to fine the best nude beaches? They are easier to find then you might think.
The Naturalist Society is devoted to nudism. There underlying principle is “body acceptance through nude recreation” and their membership includes people from all walks of life and of all ages. If you think nude beaches are all about hot naked bodies, think again. They are about the social nudity experience. So don’t worry if your body is less than perfect, take off your clothes and get an all over tan.
According to the New York Times bestseller, “The Worlds Best Nude Beaches” by Mike Charles, the best nude beach in the world is in Spain. Play d’Es Cavallet located on the small island of Ibiza off the coast of Spain and has fine white sand, rolling dunes, and an active night life. The beach is divided into three parts; the northern part is for families, the middle section for couples and the southern end for gays.
Other top ten nude beaches include Swanbourne Beach in Perth Australia. It is an “official” nude or “clothing optional” beach and even hosts the Nude Beach Olympics. A family event, the Olympics include beach sports such as volleyball and a best beach bum contest. With an average high temperature in the mid 80’s F (30 C) during the Australian summer (December - April) it is a lovely place to go nude.
There are even some great nude beaches in the United States including Baker Beach in San Francisco California, Gunnison Beach in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, and Mazo Beach in Mazomanie Wisconsin. Canada has Wreck Beach, located in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia.
If you decide to go to a nude beach remember it is not a free for all, there are rules of etiquette to follow:
- Don’t gawk, it is rude and don’t make sexual advances, they are unacceptable.
- Don’t take photos unless you have the subject’s permission first.
- Respect other peoples privacy.
- Many nude beaches don’t have amenities so bring your own food and drink as well as anything else you may need, like sunscreen.
- If you are sunbathing in a mixed clothing beach, keep a bathing suit handy and visible, so others will know you are nude and you can get dressed quickly if you need to.
- Keep the beach clean, take your garbage with you when you leave.
- Remember to get dressed before you leave the beach.
So if you want to visit a nude beach while you are on vacation, do your research before you go. Find a beach where nude sunbathing is practiced, don’t just take your clothes off at any beach. Another good reference for nude beaches is “World Guide to Nude Beaches and Resorts” by Lee Baxandall of the Naturalist society. Going nude is a natural thing, not an exhibitionist or hedonist practice. Keep this in mind and enjoy your time at the beach.
