The Road by Cormac McCarthy

This is such an amazing book! It takes place after what is obviously a global disaster or war. A man and his son walk for miles to get to the ocean. That's all I can say without givig more away. It's very very good. It was an Oprah pick, actually.

I read this book too

I read this book too. It's so bleak and hopeless. I felt totally depressed after. Why would someone write a story without a shred of hope in it? Was that the point?

The Yiddish Policemen's Union

I'm currently reading The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon. I'm not too far into it yet, but it's pretty good! If you've never heard of Michael Chabon, he wrote one of my favorite books, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, which won a Pulitzer. Excellent!

The road

Oh I know! The Road was so hopeless! I also think it was unrealistic. They were eating canned fruit that was easily 7yrs old. Most canned fruit I've seen only lasts 2-3yrs on the shelf if you look at the expiry date. I know it's a little detail, but it didn't seem very realistic.

GRRM Freaked!

he got pissed to some fans that was really rushing and rubbing it against him about the delay of book five... but I see there are a lot of supporters who expressed their patience for martin... you can read his posts here... http://grrm.livejournal.com/
