I just read "The Audacity of Hope" by Barack Obama and think that it's a terrific book. It's just practical, every-day words of wisdom that can be applied by everyone. I think that Obama's writing is fresh, honest and at times very humorous.
I read Devil in the White City some years ago, and just bought Erik Larson's newest book, Thunderstruck. If you like non-fiction that's written like a story, you'll love Erik Larson's books. Devil in the White City is a fascinating look at Chicago during the time of the World's Fair there.
by alice sebold is a great read... I also heard that there is a movie to come out in the same title this year...
Lovely bones is gonna get a movie?? well! I'm getting too excited!

Just got "The Food of a Younger Land: A Portrait of American Food--Before the National Highway System, Before Chain Restaurants, and Before Frozen Food, When the Nation's Food Was Seasonal" How's that for a title? It's about the WPA writer's project book on food during the great depression. The thing never got published, WW2 got in the way, until now. It's full of folkways, foodways, and recipes. I also just got "America Eats," an earlier book on the same topic.
