The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, voted on Friday August 21 to do away with their ban on partnered gay clergy and will now allow people in same-sex relatitonships to serve as church leaders. Previously, this denomination of the Lutheran Church, which is the largest denomination in the country, only permitted openly gay and lesbian clergy if they remained celibate.
