Hinduism

I am hindu, I sometime practise spritual things but never devoted into it. I believe in myself, and for me this is highly spiritual. Hinduism originated over 3000 years ago. Hinduism claims to have many founders, teachers and prophets who claim first hand experience of God. I adopt spirituality as a personality rather then principle.

Hello

I'm Tony, an unremarkabley average middle aged man living in Yorkshire in the UK, married with two grown up children.
I was brought up as an Anglican Christian, regularly attending church until my late teens when to my regret I fell by the wayside somewhat, although I never lost my belief in God.
Recently however as I have sought to revive regular prayer and worship I have begun to question some very fundemental parts of Christian faith and I am also unhappy with an apparent lack of spiritual and moral guidance by the church.
Some years back I was introduced to Islam, a faith I found most interesting but thought of as, for want of a better word, foriegn to my way of thinking. However as my doubts and disillusionment increased I found it appearing to become increasingly attractive and relevant to me.
Unfortunately some three years after beginning to try and search out the way forward I have reached an impasse and am teetering on the brink unable to decide and make a total commitment, a position I am very unhappy with.
I would be so grateful for any help.

Re: Hello

Hello Tony and welcome to the Spiritual Journeys forum.

It may be that you are still going through a seeking stage in your life and this is not quite the "right" path for you. Or it may be that you need to seek out someone of the Muslim faith with whom you can talk to about your concerns and who can offer you support and guidance. Almost all of us run into "dry spells" at times in our spiritual journey so this might be what you are going through and you just need a little more encouragment and guidance. It's also good to keep in mind that there are many people who follow a blend of two or more religious or spiritual traditions but I don't know if that would be right for you or not. Go with your heart on this one and I wish you all the best with this.

Take care

P.S., If anyone else wants to offer their advice on this subject please feel free to do so.

Thankyou

Thankyou so much for your interest and advice, it is good that it comes from someone open and unbiased as so much of the advice I have received so far appears to be tainted by prejudice and self interest.
Your advice is to "follow your heart" which almost screams Islam to me, it is my head that urges caution.
On reflection it appears to me that my heart is being positive and the negative thoughts in my head are of much less importance focusing as they do on more trivial matters such as everyday practicalities and the possible reactions of others.
It appears that you have helped to get off the fence for which you have my most sincere gratitude.
I shall speak to a very good friend of mine who also happens to be a practising Muslim and seek his advice and I would still welcome the thoughts of others on the forum.
