Channel Guide Frequently Asked Questions

So, you want to be a Guide, do you? While being a Guide is interesting and certainly a lot of fun, there is an element of serious work involved. Take a few minutes and ask yourself the following questions before you apply to be a Guide.

  • Do I know enough about this topic and have a deep enough interest in it to write about it week after week?
  • Is this topic part of my current or past profession?
  • Do I honestly have the time to write about this topic twice a week and keep my channel up-to-date with fresh content?
  • Do I have 2-3 hours per week to work on my Channel?
  • Do I know how to user PhotoShop or any other photo editing software?
  • Am I a fast learner and am I Internet and PC literate?
  • Do I want to have some fun?
  • Can I work well with a team as well as independently?
  • Do I want to make some money?
  • Can I take this seriously?

If you answered yes to these questions, then you are probably ready to be a Guide!

Do I have to be trained?

Absolutely. Our tools are sophisticated, but very easy to learn. We also need to be able to evaluate your writing and comprehension of our Guide protocol. Training is fun, relaxed and easy. There is no financial compensation during training.

How are Guides paid?

Guides are paid a monthly stipend and are independent contractors.

How much time will this take?

We believe that it should not take you more than 2-10hours per week at the most. The better your content, the more visitors you will have to your channel.

What do Guides do?

Guides are responsible for:

  • Entering 2 articles per week ( 8 per month)
  • Uploading at least 2 videos per month
  • Answering questions in your channel forums

It may sound like a lot, but most of these only take a few minutes to do.

How much help will I have?

We expect that after your initial training you will need very little guidance. Your Site Editor will be available to help you with any questions and work with you one-on-one. Don't worry, we're a patient and fun team, and we're here to help you.

What kind of equipment do I need?

Ideally you should have:

  • High-speed Internet
  • Up-to-date operating system
  • PhotoShop or some kind of photo editing software you know how to use
  • Email you can access and use
  • MSWord and Notepad

This sounds like fun! Who do I contact if I have more questions?
