Drama and art were Linda’s major and minor in university where she got a degree in education. Upon graduation she became a Junior High English and drama teacher. She continued teaching until she took a few years off to raise her 2 children with her husband Al.
She had so enjoyed the creative activities that she did with her young children that when she resumed her teaching career, she took a different route and went into pre-school education. With young children, this fit in perfectly with her family life. But as they got older and more independent, she found she had found the right niche and ended up staying in a job she loved at the same school for 20 years.
Now that she is semi-retired she has time to enjoy writing and painting. She does spend some time working individually with children in a preschool setting.
Writing on the craft channel is a natural extension of what she has been doing for years. As a teacher, each craft had to be broken down into steps so it could be explained to the children. Crafts give children an opportunity to use their creative talents but they are also a way of reinforcing or teaching important fine motor skills.
