The Absent-minded Professor

After completing a bachelor’s degree in biology and masters degree in psychology, I went on to do just about everything that’s legal (and perhaps a few things that weren’t). In my convoluted career path, I've wandered into zoo keeping, copywriting, market research, herb farming, pharmaceutical sales, and finally teaching. I'm currently a freelance writer and adjunct college professor, teaching courses in cell and microbiology.

Other Writing Experience

Although educated in the sciences, I have an insatiable curiosity about everything, and my broad range of experience leaves almost no topic off limits. In addition to a background in copywriting, I've has published a master’s thesis on primate behavior and written on various topics for Helium.com, Associated Content, Suite101.com (where I am the feature writer for Microbiology), the Ontonagon Herald, Eaton County News and Michigan Herb Association.

I've recently launched the website ScienceProfOnline.org, a free go-to source for clear, easy-to-understand information on general biology, cell biology, and microbiology, including both a Virtual Cell Biology and a Virtual Microbiology Classroom. I use this website to help teach my courses, but it is free educational information open to anyone with a curious mind. My other sites include PsychologyProfOnline.org and TheAnimalBehaviorist.org. Family Life

I have three adorable kids (2 yo, 3 yo and 10 yo) and one adorable husband. This time of year we like to picnic at the area nature center or unwind at our local Beer Garden (where children can romp and parents can drink the hoppiest products of alcohol fermentation on planet earth)!
